Impressionism is little known from the angle of the fascination exerted on its painters by the industrial revolution and its effects. Monet's trains, Caillebotte's bridges, Guillaumin's factories, Pissarro's ports are the expression of artists in touch with their time, despite the violent hostility of the supporters of academicism.

We follow them on the roads, in stations and offices, on platforms and barges, on a walk bathed in light and steam...
