February 22, 2024. Impressionnists and the Seine

Along the meanders...

Organized by the Vu pas Vu association

A peaceful river which meanders between its modest source on the Langres plateau and its estuary which opens between Le Havre and Honfleur, the Seine has inspired hundreds of artists. Among them, the impressionists sublimated its shores, painted its floods, immortalized its waters taken by the ice. The Seine and its bridges, the irruption of modernity, the railways, the regattas, the taverns where the people of Paris came to breathe on Sundays. Monet and Renoir painted La Grenouillère, Sysley surprised its waters under the summer sun, Berthe Morisot captured its pastel tones at Bougival... It is on a sometimes surprising journey that this conference invites its audience, a dive into time , from the Ile de la Grande Jatte to Le Havre.
