Conference: Impressionists and the Seine river

Claud Monet La Grenouillère 1869

A peaceful river which meanders between its modest source on the Langres plateau and its estuary which opens between Le Havre and Honfleur, the Seine has inspired hundreds of artists. Among them, the Impressionists sublimated its shores, painted its floods, immortalized its frozen waters. The Seine and its bridges, the irruption of modernity, the railways, the regattas, the ginguettes where the people of Paris came to breathe on Sundays. Monet and Renoir paint the Grenouillère, Sysley surprises its waters under the summer sun, Berthe Morisot captures their pastel tones at Bougival ... It is on a sometimes surprising journey that Fabrice Roy invites its audience, a dive in time , from the Ile de la Grande Jatte to Le Havre.
